American based, Nigerian Gospel singer and songwriter Tomi Favored says reveals that was once offered a record deal with a condition to take out Jesus’ name from her music to make it more universal.

“I was once offered a record deal with a caveat: take out JESUS’ name &put an innominate personality everyone can relate to. It’ll make your music more universal..”

She posted this yesterday on twitter, sharing that she was asked to replace Jesus with an innominate or rather un-named personality so that it can be accepted universally. She declined that offer, standing for what she believed in, her faith.

“Because Jesus is the name that saved me & I can’t NOT sing Him” she says.

It is known that more gospel artists are been approached and offered music deals with a condition of rejecting the name of Jesus, and we think that it is a bold step and the right step/decision to walk away from such deals. If you have been called and inspired to sing gospel music by God, then God is taking you places and thats where your blessing and fulfilment is.

Thanks Tomi Favored for sharing your story.
